On June 28 to July 6, 2018, the joint delegation of 7 members from Nanyang Municipal Government and Chinese Rose society attended the 18th WFRS Convention in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The theme of the 18th WFRS Convention is “a Fairy Tale of Roses”. More than 500 delegates from 26 countries attended the Convention, at which full-scale and in-depth exchanges were made about the breeding of roses, spreading of rose cultures and the technology of rose cultivation.

At the Convention, the delegates watched the publicity film of the Nanyang 2019 WFRS Regional Convention. Zhao Shiwei, Vice President of World Federation of Rose Societies, Executive Vice President of Chinese Rose Society, made a theme report, introducing with multimedia the historical culture, convention facilities, tourism and rose industry of Nanyang to fully acquaint the delegates with the beautiful city of Nanyang, and he also sincerely invited the delegates to attend the 2019 WFRS Regional Convention in Nanyang. The delegation also set up an information booth at the convention venue, distributing publicity materials about Nanyang and exchanging experience in depth with delegates from other countries. The handover ceremony of the WFRS flag was held at the closing ceremony. Mrs. Henrianne de Briey, President of WFRS, and Mrs. Helga Brichet, Committee Chairman of WFRS, handed over the flag to Nanyang, wishing for a successful 2019 WFRS Regional Convention.

During the Convention, the past president of WFRS, Mr. Kelvin Trimper, Committee Chairman, Mrs. Helga Brichet and other WFRS officials and experts made an in-depth exchange with Nanyang delegation about the organization of the 2019 WFRS Regional Convention, confirmed the job Nanyang has done and hoped Nanyang would make a further solid advance of the preparatory work for a wonderful and splendid rose festival.
