On October 2nd, World Federation of Rose Societies sent a message to Rose Branch Association of China Flower Association to approve that 2019 WFRS Regional Convention is held in Nanyang, China. This marks Nanyang City’s hosting 2019 WFRS Regional Convention has achieved staged success.

The highest level event of Chinese rose in the world

Talking about WFRS Regional Convention, a relevant person told the reporter that it is the highest level event in Chinese rose in the world held by World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS) and organized by member states. It is held every three years. The participating countries are all members of the WFRS, and the scale of the convention depends on the capacity of the hosting country, which is generally for 800-1500 people. During the holding of the convention, member countries will exchange the research progress and achievements in the cultivation, landscape, breeding, culture, etc. of Chinese roses, display new varieties, new technologies, and new applications, provide platforms for the hosting countries and cities to promote the regional brands and conduct international cooperation.

Judging from the events held in previous years, the hosting of WFRS Regional Convention has greatly promoted the upgrading of Chinese rose career and the city development of the host country. All member states attach great importance to the application work and actively applied ahead of time. At the congress of all member states on October 17, 2012, Beijing, China was passed by all votes and got the opportunity to host the 2016 WFRS Regional Convention.

Nanyang has always been aggressive towards this goal

Nanyang is the hometown of Chinese roses. Speeding up the industrial development of Chinese roses, further enlarging and strengthening the Chinese rose industry, setting off the brand of Chinese roses, and accelerating the development of urban ecological agriculture and eco-tourism are the directions that the city has been striving for.

For the application, the municipal party committee secretary Mu Weimin requested that an application committee should be set up and a special working team should be organized to speed up the application process. Mayor Huo Haosheng listened to the report on application for hosting 2019 WFRS Regional Convention at the municipal government executive meeting, and clearly stated that it is necessary to actively apply to ensure the passing of the application.

On May 17 of this year, the municipal government submitted an application letter to Rose Branch Association of China Flower Association. Rose Branch Association approved the application. During 2016 WFRS Regional Convention in Beijing, Vice Mayor He Xuemin and the Chairman of Rose Branch Association Zhang Zuoshuang jointly made a preliminary report to the Chairman of WFRS Kelvin Trimper and Ms. Helga Brichet (former Chairman). WFRS agreed to conduct a preliminary investigation of Nanyang in September this year.

Formally submit bid application on September 11

From September 9 to September 11, WFRS formed an investigation team to conduct a special investigation to our city for the application of hosting 2019 WFRS Regional Convention. The investigation team has inspected the development of Chinese rose bases and Chinese rose industry in Nanyang, historical culture, and ecotourism resources. During the investigation, the party secretary Mu Weimin personally interviewed the members of the investigation team. The mayor, Huo Haosheng, reported to the investigation team in person and signed the commitment. The deputy mayor He Xuemin carefully arranged the investigation tour and accompanied the team throughout the investigation. On September 11, the city submitted a bid application.

Through a three-day investigation and panel discussion, the investigation team gave a high degree of recognition to Nanyang’s application work and was very satisfied. Seeing Nanyang’s enthusiasm for applying for hosting WFRS Regional Convention, the investigation team has firmed the determination to support Nanyang’s bid for the convention. They said that they would respond as quickly as possible and try to give the exact answer in mid-October.

Come and gather in Nanyang to participate in the convention in 2019

Our city is very fortunate because WFRS Regional Convention has been successfully held twice in China and there are mature experience and successful models which can be referred to by Nanyang. Next, the city will actively participate in WFRS Regional Conventions or WFRS Conventions organized by WFRS in different countries in accordance with the regulations of WFRS, promoting Chinese roses in Nanyang, leading Nanyang to the world, leading the world to know about Nanyang, inviting more nations, regions and Chinese rose masters to gather in Nanyang and participate in 2019 WFRS Regional Convention.
